3 tips for exercise based new year resolutions
We know many people make new year resolutions around fitness and health. We also know that some people don't get started because they are concerned about old or persistent injuries flaring up.
Our 3 tips for getting back into exercise without pain
- Start slowly and gradually build up - if you used to run 4 mins/km or bench press 150kg when you were 25, but you are *cough* (more than 25), don't start at your personal best levels, take it easy and enjoy the ride.
- Listen to your body - if you are feeling niggles and aches after getting into a new exercise, takes some rest days, slow down your progression and give your body a chance to adapt.
- Know your equipment - make sure your shoes aren't years old, check the bike is serviced, get help learning to use gym equipment.
If pain or niggles are bothering you, we are always available to assess your issue, provide guidance about safe return to activity and give you simple exercises to help you on your way.
